Kimmeridge is a small picturesque village with a bay on the Jurassic coast. The bay is designated as the 'Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve'. It's popular with divers and there can be excellent surf due to the ledges on the sea bed. A 'nodding donkey' can be seen on the cliff top continually pumping oil from a well. However, the most important thing to note for seafarers is that the area from Kimmeridge to Lulworth is within the 'Lulworth Ranges' and one must always check there is no firing before embarking on a journey within the area. Blue skies and a calm sea as we set off.
Gad cliff is spectacular.

Passing Worbarrow Tout. On the return it was too lively to take pictures here as the tidal flow coming out of the bay met the swell from the south west.
Just before Arish Mell is a cave to paddle through
Approaching Mupe Bay
At the right hand end of the bay the huge rockfall can be seen from the collapsing cliff

On to Lulworth Cove
We'd planned to do a rolling and rescue session then to dry out on the beach and have lunch. In light clothing we soon became chilled but the session was successful and some minor improvements to kit and procedure were noted. When we left the cove a gentle breeze from the south west picked up with white caps and chop that seemed out of character. The section of cliffs immediately to the east of the cove is known as 'fossil forest' due to the fossilised tree stumps that can be seen on the ledges within the cliffs. In this section with a prevailing wind the sea state is usually confused.
We had a brief stop in Worbarrow Bay.
Light clouds were forming over the cliffs.
