2020-01-23, Surin Islands
The next day was free from cycling and I had arranged (thankfully with help from Is) a day trip to go snorkelling at the Surin islands. The islands are about 50k offshore but unfortunately the company I'd picked departed from a pier to the south of where we stayed and that meant a 100k hour and three quarter speedboat ride at full pelt. It was worth it.
The first stop was at the Moken village on the beach.
Our speedboat brought about 40 day trippers.
In contrast to the local long tail boats with adapted car or truck engines.
A good lunch was provided.
Stunning beaches.
After lunch the speedboat had moved due to the outgoing tide so we had to wade out to it.
The underwater life was incredible with a wide variety of fish and corals.
In the evening we ate at the night market.
Trying fried insects amongst other things.
