The original plan was a circuit starting on Bute, taking in the north or Arran and the east coast of the Mull of Kintyre. But due to a bad weather forecast for the final day, it was decided to stay close to Bute instead. The route went clockwise starting and finishing at Port Bannatyne.

Departing

Attractive properties down the east coast

First stop

Rounding the decommissioned light at the SE corner (Rubh'an Eun)

On to Garroch Head

Arran beckoned...

Coming in to Dunagoil bay for second break

After camping on Inchmarnock, we departed in what was a force 4 according to the forecast

Heading in to Tignabruaich for coffee and cake at cafe 'Botanica'

Team Tiderace now well fuelled for the rest of the trip

Passing the Burnt Isles

The Colintraive ferry now in sight

After paddling down the east kyle, journeys end

The next morning the wind arrived and we began by practising rescues in Kilchattan bay.
We then headed down to the old lighthouse where we knew the conditions would be quite different to when we passed it two days before. Roddy took some pictures:

Thanks to Roddy (Kayak Bute), Lynne and David for a most enjoyable few days.
