2022-04-23, Menai Straits

A day on the Menai Straits with Kayak Essentials There was a stiff wind (~bf5) from the north east blowing down the straits and the tide was flooding into the wind , so the tide race flow was throwing up short wavelength waves about a metre high. Being led by Stuart Leslie, we were looking forward to surfing those waves. Regretfully I hadn't taken the GoPro so very few pictures.

Anglesey Outdoors was heaving with countless sea kayakers and many separate groups. Some folks on assessments, some on the Kayak Essentials weekend, and others doing their own thing. Paddlers had come from far and wide (even overseas) to experience the Anglesey conditions.

The slipway and car park at Menai Bridge was inundated with sea kayakers.

Our group stopping for lunch. My kayak (Tiderace Pace Action) in the foreground was outstanding in the conditions, surfing wave after wave.

Finding a calm area to revisit some skills.

A tiring but rewarding session.
