2022-03-24, Kayak, Pozo Negro

Day 3 with Jorge from Kayak Fuerteventura. There was a strong wind from North-North-West so we travelled down the island to Pozo Negro to seek shelter from the dramatic cliffs. The drive down through the island is spectacular; almost desert and with many extinct volcanoes. The approach to the beach is down a long valley with a substantial ancient lava flow parallel to the road. We paddled south with an open book of Geology exposed in the cliffs. The hope for shelter from the cliffs faded as the wind veered to be parallel to the cliffs and behind us. We turned around before reaching the planned destination and stopped on a deserted beach for lunch. Luckily the wind eased as we set off again. On returning to the beach we enjoyed afternoon coffee at a beach cafe.
