2020-12-07, MTB, Pb, Hollingworth, Diggle, Loop

The route started on the Pennine Bridleway south from Hollingworth Lake for 10 miles or so then returning using trails and minor roads as much as possible. The return journey was tougher than expected with some gnarly trails, considerable hills and a puncture.

Passing under the M62 the track weaved its way up onto the moors.

Recent snow remains

Past many reservoirs

Some of the Pennine Bridleway signs were missing and the GPS once again proved its worth

Past Diggle

Miniature postbox

Then we were on a steep, tight and rocky trail running with water which proved too difficult to ride

The last climb then the home straight back to Hollingworth Lake

But even on what looked like a simple downhill stretch there was a challenge, deep mud which took some getting through

The final section had some interesting bits

Back to the lake and a superb sunset

A tough ride but worth it, see the GPS track map for ride stats.
