A scenic ride in the Lake district, with a sting in the tail

Map with GPS track (click on icons): Open Maps   Bing (OS)

Climbing north from Knipe Fold, the view to the east

Reaching the Iron keld plantation, the Langdales can be seen

Leaving the woods, a magnificant view over the Langdales

An easy track if you can keep your eyes on it

After reaching the main road and a switchback, the bridleway east to Stang End

In the Langdale valley

Lunch stop in a river bed

Shared with a local

Into the northern part of Grizedale forest and a view over Coniston

And back over the Langdales

Amusing sign at the start of the bridleway east over Claife Heights.

The descent to Windermere near the end was challenging in places, on the final descent the gradient or the roughest stuff can't be realised in the picture.
