To escape the UK winter we went to Fuerteventura, booking some sea kayaking with
Sea Kayak Fuerteventura. Additionally there was the potential for surfski with
Maeva Kayak. Finally the island offered an interesting landscape for bike rides.
In the Canary islands the prevailing wind is from the North to North East. The surrounding ocean is deep but between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote it's relatively shallow, and between Fuerteventura and Lobos island it's even shallower so that area is prone to to big swell (experienced!). Additionally there can be wind over tide there as the flow is constricted between the islands.
